Hello...is it me you're looking for?

Hello friends!

You've probably noticed that I have been MIA on this blog lately. Life has kinda gotten in the way - which is a great thing! Between a full time job, my burgeoning wreath empire, and helping run our home building business things have been a little hectic!

I still plan on posting here from time to time, so don't go away. In the meantime, you can find me over at my new love, Instagram @ sweethome.indiana. I post there almost daily and I'd love it if you'd follow me there!

You can also find me on Facebook at Sweet Home Indiana 1.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon!

Love,

Kristin

Happy Birthday Blog!!!

One year ago today, I started Sweet Home Indiana!

I had been thinking about writing a blog for years, but never pulled the trigger. I went to school for journalism and television production, but things happened and that life never happened for me. But, I always just kept thinking about it. Creating stories, whether on paper or video, was always just something I have enjoyed doing my entire life.

I am really into quotes and my pinterest is full of them. There were some sayings that just kept making their way back into my life and they started to take hold. I couldn't stop thinking about living the life that I had dreamed about. No one would hire me to do the kind of work I wanted because I didn't have enough "experience." I decided to make my own experience ~ and I could write about anything I wanted!

I have always loved doing things around the house, from crafts, to baking, to decorating for the holidays. Martha Stewart was an early inspiration for me, as are many other ladies such as Julia Child, Ina Garten, Sarah Richardson, Ree Drummond, Joanna Gaines, and Nicole Curtis. And of course, my own mom! They all make home a better place to be and that is what I love to do as well! Home is my happy place, and I decided that my blog would document my adventures in homemaking!

A year later and here we are! I may not be able to quit my day job or have my own television show or book deal (yet!), but I am doing something that makes me happy!

You never know where life will lead you! My advice is to start doing something TODAY, no matter how small, that will allow you to live the life you have always dreamed of. You only get one chance at life, make it count!

Thanks to everyone that follows along with my blog! The best is yet to come!

Here are some quotes that really speak to me and have inspired me along the way:

The month in review

We've come to the last day of January and the last day of my little blogging experiment.

So what has this month taught me?

Bloggin ain't easy! Posting every day can be difficult sometimes. I almost made my goal of posting every single day this month. The one day I didn't was because I accidentally fell asleep super early. Like 7pm early. Oops. Adulting is hard work!

The writing part is easy and fun for me, but having to write on top of taking pictures (also fun!), sometimes editing pictures (meh), and having to do all the properties of the pics (boring!) and descriptions requires a lot of time. I hate to say it, but maybe some days it was more of a chore than it was fun.

And I don't want that.

From here on out, I will go back to posting around twice a week. I vote for quality over quantity! It was fun and challenging, but I want to make sure it continues to be fun in the future!

I wish this were my full-time job and I could post every day. Seriously. Full-time writer! That is my dream! But alas, at this point in my life, that is not an option.

The good news is, is that this blog has got me really thinking ahead and planning and organizing all my ideas. I have to pick and choose what projects I can do and when, otherwise I'd go broke.

I've got enough ideas to keep this blog going for years!

Also, I knew I loved holidays, but I realize now just how much I love them! I have all these awesome and cute things I want to do for every single holiday! I really have to pace myself, but decorating and baking for holidays is so much fun!

I'll see ya when I see ya!

After a two year "hiatus", I think I am ready to get back at it!
